In order to discover the works of Arezzo's famous painter, architect, art historian and poet, we would invite you to follow this itinerary which allows you to admire the masterpieces that Arezzo preserves.
The itinerary starts in the Cathedral where Vasari worked on the organ base in pietra serena, a grey sandstone, and on the wooden choir stalls. The itinerary takes you from the Cathedral to the Diocesan Museum to admire a standard with the Mary of Mercy and a drape with John the Baptist's Sermon and the Baptism of Christ.
Vasari's house, which he himself decorated, is located in Via XX Settembre. The tour continues in the National Medieval and Modern Art Museum where many works by Vasari are kept, the most important of which is the Marriage of Ester and Assuero, painted on wood in1549. Not far from here is the church of SS. Annunziata which houses the artist's Deposition from the Cross.
Next we come to the church of the Holy Trinity or Mercy in Piazza del Popolo to admire the standard depicting the Trinity between St. Bernard of Chiaravalle, St. Francis and St. Augustine (1573). In Piazza della Badia delle Sante Flora e Lucilla we can find the homonymous church which was renovated following Vasari's design. On the northern side of Piazza Grande or Piazza Vasari stands the marvellous Palazzo delle Logge Vasari, which the architect designed in 1573.
